Solideal is dedicated to serving the Tire, Wheel and Rubber Track needs of the world's Material Handling and Construction industries. Our mission is to enhance mobility for the productive world.
Solideal is vertically integrated with R & D facilities based in Europe and Asia; manufacturing in Europe, North America, and Asia, and over 100 distribution and service locations throughout the world:
The Solideal group employs over 9,000 people worldwide.
Solideal's success is the result of a focussed team who have held on to an important set of values. Today, Solideal firmly embraces the following core values in order to help perpetuate the group's growth ambitions.
Commitment to Environment
Solideal is concerned for its environment and in finding ways to reduce waste and maximize the recycling possibilities for our products. This concern is expressed in our core values and reinforced throughout the organization. In our Sri Lanka manufacturing facilities we have targeted and received the ISO 14000 environmental certification and we have numerous projects ongoing to reuse production waste and by-products. In our distribution network, we have implemented recycling policies and our goal is to provide solutions everywhere to customers which ensure recycling of used products.
Social Responsibility
As a part of the group's commitment to its environment, we have to be sure to add value to the societies in which we operate. Throughout the world, we employ over 9,000 people and our goal is to provide development opportunities to each person in the group. Reaching beyond the company, we are also committed to communities. Solideal lends its support to each of our communities, but the most significant community project has been the massive efforts, in both money and time, to aid and redevelop affected communities in the southern coast of Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka Community Programmes
Solideal has 9 factories in Sri Lanka and was deeply touched and affected by the dramatic Tsunami that affected the country in 2004. Only few hours after the tsunami struck the Sri Lankan coast, Mr. Pierre Pringiers (co-founder of the Solideal group), Honorary Consul of Belgium in Sri Lanka together with his business partners initiated the Southern Coast Reconstruction Programme with an initial donation of US $1million in order to rebuild a part of the southern coast of Sri Lanka, between Galle and Matara.
During one month, 130 volunteers assisted more than 4,000 people affected by the tsunami. Four transitional camps were built in order to shelter 186 families, which corresponds to 735 displaced people. With the intervention of the Belgian army, the first transitional camp opened January 20, 2005, less than one month after the tragedy.
Thanks to all its generous donors - consisting of Solideal employees, friends, and customers, the trustees could set up an ambitious rehabilitation programme with a total budget of $5 million. Thus far, the achievements are the following:
The reconstruction projects have been a huge success. In addition to this effort, the original mandate has been extended and a new foundation has been established called, Building A Future (BAF). The BAF foundation's mission is to create a future for the youth along the coastal areas affected by tsunami by bringing in new activities, technologies, skills and training in order to generate such economic activities and employment opportunities.
